Rave Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2024/03/11

It’s pretty hard to make everyone happy with a Privacy Policy. Most people who use Rave want something short and easy to understand. While we wish we could fit everything you need to know into a chat message, our regulators ask us to meet our legal obligations by describing them all in a lot of detail.

With that in mind, we’ve written our Privacy Policy as simple as possible. We've broken it into sections to help empower you to make informed decisions about how you have control over the information we collect, how it’s used, and when it’s shared.

Why We Collect Information
Rave is the best way to watch videos online with friends. In order to make that happen, we need to know a little bit about you. Here are a few of the services Rave offers because of the data we collect:

Fast and easy login

Dynamic friend lists

Saved user preferences

Maintained liked videos and watch history

Recommended content from new shows, movies, creators, and channels you'll likely vote for next

Improving, operating, developing, protecting, maintaining, and delivering Rave as a service

Monitoring and analyzing trends and usage

Enforcing, investigating, and reporting conduct violating our Terms of Service and other usage policies, respond to requests from law enforcement, and comply with legal requirements.
Information We Collect - What You Provide Us
When you interact with Rave, we collect the information you provide to us. For example, we require you to set up an account where we need to collect a few important details about you, such as a username, handle, password, email address, and profile picture. We may also ask you to provide us with some additional information, such as date of birth if you try to view mature content.

Of course, in order for you to chat with your friends, you also provide us with the information you send through our services, such as chats, voice, and all those amazing memes.

Keep in mind that the users who use Rave could save that content or copy it outside the app. So, use same common sense that applies to the internet at large: Don’t send messages or share content that you wouldn’t want someone to save or share.

When using Rave, you are prompted to sign into third-party video services. We never collect, save, maintain, or propagate these passwords.
Information We Collect - When You Use Rave
Usage Information

When you watch content on Rave, we collect information about what you're watching. We use this information to maintain your watch history, recommend you content we think you'll like, and recommend you other Raves who party the same way you do. We might know, for instance, that you love the new Blackpink single, but can't stand T-Swifts latest. Or, for example, we know we can recommend you Netflix shows because you showed us you have subscription after you binge watched all of Game of Thrones. We also keep track of who you watch content with on Rave so you can easily find and invite them again.

Device Information

We collect device level info to recommend you users that watch movies on the same devices you do. These data include your hardware model, operating system version, screen size, device memory, advertising identifiers, language, battery level, microphone access for voice, and whether you watch with headphones connected.

Location/Network Information

We love that Rave can connect you with friends anywhere in the world. We also love to connect people who live close together. To make all this possible, we collect your service provider, IP address, VPN, bandwidth, and signal strength. We'll ask for your precise location data to make this service even better by using your latitude and longitude.

Only on Rave for the personal computer, Rave sets and uses cookies to display advertisements within the app. Cookies within the Rave personal computer app are subject to the privacy policy of the third party providing the advertisement. Third parties providing the advertising do not have access to the apps cookies. Third parties usually use non-personally-identifiable or anonymous codes to obtain metrics about your use of the Rave personal computer app.
Information We Collect - From Third Parties
We may collect information about you from third parties. For example, if you sign in with Facebook, Google, Twitter, Apple, HMS (HUAWEI Mobile Services), or Vkontakte, we receive your user details from them.

Also, if you upload your contact list, we may combine this information with your current friend list.
Children and Sensitive Data

None of our services are intentionally directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 years of age. If we determine upon collection that a Rave user is under the age of 13, we will not use or maintain his/her personal data. If we become aware that we have unknowingly collected personal data from a child under the age of 13, we will make reasonable efforts to delete such information from our records. If you’re a kid, please go play in the yard, don’t use or interact with Rave!

In most cases, if you let us use your information and change your mind, no problem! You can disable precise location using your OS, or revoke all data collection choosing to opt-out of data collection in the settings of the Rave app. Of course, if you do that, certain services will lose functionality such as recommended content.

While we hope you’ll remain a lifelong Rave user, if for any reason you want to delete your account, and the data associated with it, the option is available on the Settings page of the Rave app by way of the "Delete Account" button. If you delete your Rave account, the data associated with it will be deleted within 30 days.

Sometimes, we’ll let you know by revising the date at the top of the Privacy Policy that’s available on our website and mobile application.
